Why the first fortnight of January gives you the deepest snow without the crowds.
Every winter, hundreds of trekkers ask us when to do Kedarkantha. The honest answer is: the first two weeks of January. Here's why.
Snow without the crowds
By early January, the Sankri-Juda-Ka-Talab trail has 1–2 feet of fresh powder. The big rush hasn't started — that's a late-January and February story. You'll often have a campsite to yourselves.
Stable summit windows
Pre-dawn summit pushes are about wind, not just snow. The jet stream usually sits high in early January, giving us calmer summit mornings.
What it means for you
Book early. We cap our batches at 14 trekkers and the January batches close 6 weeks ahead.
